Health Records on iPhone Now Available to Patients of Northwest Health

Northwest Health now supports Health Records on iPhone, which brings together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health app to make it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers whenever they choose.

Patients who have received care at Northwest Health can now use their iPhone to access and visualize important details of their medical records, including allergies, conditions, immunizations, labs, medications, procedures and vitals.

“We’re excited to offer patients this convenient access to their health record in the palm of their hand,” said Denten Park, Market Chief Executive Officer of Northwest Health. “Apple offers a secure platform that people trust and it’s great to have a new resource to connect patients with their data.”

Previously, patients’ medical records were held in multiple locations, requiring patients to log into each care provider’s website and piece together the information manually. Apple worked with the healthcare community to take a consumer-friendly approach and created Health Records based on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), a standard for transferring electronic medical records.

Now, patients will have medical information from participating institutions organized into one view and can receive notifications when their data is updated. Health Records data is encrypted and protected with the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.

Northwest Health patients can also access their health information directly via their hospital and physician group portals at https://www.northwesthealth.com/hospital-patient-portal.  Through CareNotify, hospital discharge summaries, diagnostic imaging and lab results are available. The physician group portal makes medical records, medications, and other outpatient information available.
