Energy Assistance Funding Available from Economic Opportunity Agency

Economic Opportunity Agency (EOA) has funds available for energy assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). During the summer, this program provides assistance with electricity payments, allowing low-income families in Washington County, Arkansas, to cool their homes.

To apply for assistance, families must reside in Washington County and meet income eligibility guidelines. Eligible households also include those who receive food stamps or have an elderly or disabled person in the home. Crisis assistance is available for households that have received a shut-off notice or are at imminent risk of disconnection.

To schedule an appointment for LIHEAP assistance, call the Economic Opportunity Agency at 479-872-7479.

Applicants must bring the following documents to the appointment:

  • Proof of household income and household size. For zero-income households, proof of the means of support must be provided.
  • The most recent energy bills (gas and electric) or shut-off notice
  • Picture Identification (ID)

Economic Opportunity Agency is located in the JTL Center for Nonprofits at 614 E. Emma Ave., Springdale. Office hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
