Rogers Heritage High School Partners with the Rogers Experimental House for NWA Gives April 4

Students from Rogers Heritage High School are partnering with the Rogers Experimental House to make improvements to the studio at 121 W. Walnut.

This project complements the RXH participation in NWA Gives, Northwest Arkansas’s biggest day of giving, Thursday, April 4. Students in the Fine Arts, Industrial Arts and Marketing and Communications classes are working with board members from the Rogers Experimental House to raise awareness of the downtown Rogers studio.

Students from the Industrial Arts classes are building sandwich boards to display signage during classes and art exhibits, and are making repairs and improvements to the gallery space. Fine Arts students are exhibiting their work in the space and the Marketing class is writing copy for social media posts and other marketing pieces. Students also helped create a selfie station where the public can add messages and images to a chalk wall and pose for photographs. 

Heather Grosze, Heritage High School business teacher and career and technical education faculty member, reached out to the nonprofit organization In the fall of 2018.

“We wanted to partner with the Rogers Experimental House to provide students from several CTE program areas the opportunity to apply the skills they are learning in the classroom, commented Grosze. We ask the Rogers Experimental House to connect CTE students to the downtown businesses in the arts creative community.”

All high school students are required to complete 75 volunteer hours. Other nonprofit organizations are encouraged to share their volunteer opportunities as well.
