Waitress is a “Treat for All the Senses” (New York Post), Catch One of Eight Performances at Walton Arts Center

The irresistible hit-musical, Waitress, takes the stage at Walton Arts Center on April 9-14 for eight performances. Based on the film by the same name, Waitress features original musical and lyrics by seven-time Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles. Audiences will love what Entertainment Weekly calls “a blue-ribbon Broadway musical.”

Brought to life by a groundbreaking, all-female creative team including Tony-winning director Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland), based on a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam), choreographed by Lorin Latarro with music and lyrics by Bareilles.

Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker, dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Pouring her heart into her pies, she crafts creations that mirror her topsy-turvy life such as “The Key (Lime) to Happiness Pie” and “Betrayed by My Eggs Pie.” When a baking contest in a nearby county — and a satisfying encounter with someone new — show Jenna a chance at a fresh start, she must find the courage to seize it. Change is on the menu, as long as Jenna can write her own perfectly personal recipe for happiness.

Audiences at Waitress will not only be able to see the pies on-stage, but they can enjoy a treat during the show. Baked from the Heart Apple Pie and Feels So Good to Be Bad Chocolate Carmel Pie will be available from concessions.

Variety magazine shares that Waitress is, “a delicious tale that's not simply about getting Prince Charming, but getting its heroine to take action and discover her worth!”
