Poet Laureate of Hawaii, Kealoha, Brings The Story of Everything to Walton Arts Center

Poet Laureate of Hawaii and MIT nuclear physics graduate, Kealoha, is bringing his 90-minute multimedia performance, The Story of Everything, to Walton Arts Center on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10. Patrons can also purchase prepaid parking for $7 to reserve a space in the Spring Street parking deck. Tickets and parking can be purchased in-person at the Walton Arts Center Box Office, by calling 479.443.5600 or by visiting waltonartscenter.org.

The Story of Everything is a creation story in epic poem format that traces our origins from the big bang theory to now using science, poetry, storytelling, movement, music, visual art and chanting. Through this work, Kealoha dramatizes explanations for the origin of humans, drawing from sources as diverse and yet interconnected as the big bang theory, disco, physics, biology, Michael Jackson and the Kumulipo.

The Story of Everything uses cultural elements and scientific disciplines to approach a question about existence that has challenged humans for centuries. Kealoha’s performance traces the beginning of life from simple forms that evolve into complex relationships, and ultimately provokes the audience to ask, “Where do we go from here?”

Walton Arts Center’s 10x10 Arts Series brings a variety of groundbreaking artists and awe-inspiring performances to Northwest Arkansas at a price that allows more people to experience live theater performances.

Patrons attending a 10x10 Arts Series performance are invited to a preshow Creative Conversation with Kealoha led by a member of Walton Arts Center’s programming staff at 6 pm. Following the show, patrons are also invited to attend a party with the artists in the Walker Atrium and to share their thoughts about the show with the popular Post-It® Note responses.
