NWACC Offering Administrative Assistant Basic Certificate Program

Northwest Arkansas Community College is offering an Administrative Assistant Basic Certificate Program for those wanting to gain the skills neccessary to advance their career in the administrative field.

Computer Classes

Basic Windows 10
Windows 10 Essentials will show your participants the great new features of Windows 10 and provide them with a great base to further their Windows 10 experiences. With Windows 10 you are able to better manage your time by providing new and more efficient tools and applications.

Mastering Word 2016 Basics
Participants will gain a fundamental understanding of the Microsoft Word environment and the ability to complete tasks independently. They will demonstrate the correct application of the principle features of Word 2016 by creating and editing documents for a variety of purposes and situations. Document examples include professional looking reports, multi-column newsletters, resumes, and business correspondence.

Mastering Excel 2016 Basics
Participants will gain a fundamental understanding of the Excel environment and the ability to complete tasks independently. They will know and demonstrate the correct application of the principal features of Excel 2016. Participants will create and edit a workbook with multiple sheets, and use a graphic element to represent data visually. Workbook example include professional looking budgets, financial statements, team performance charts, sales invoices, and data-entry logs.

Mastering Access 2016 Basics
Learners will gain a fundamental understanding of this database application's environment and basic database principles. They will be able to demonstrate the correct use of key features and the ability to create and maintain tables, relationships, forms, reports, and queries.

Mastering Outlook 2016 Basics
Learners will be able to use Outlook to enhance professional correspondence, create calendars, and schedule appointments. Participants will create and edit professional-looking email messages, maintain calendars across time zones, and schedule tasks for a variety of purposes and situations including sending email for marketing campaigns, planning staff meetings, and assigning action items from those meetings.

Mastering PowerPoint 2016 Basics
Participants will learn to create, edit, and enhance slideshow presentations to create professional-looking sales presentations, employee training, instructional materials, and kiosk slideshows.

Soft Skills Classes

Administrative Support
In the Administrative Support course, participants will learn the core skills that will help them use their resources efficiently, manage your time wisely, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others skillfully.

Business Etiquette
This course examines the basics, most importantly to be considerate of others, dress/appearance, the workplace versus social situations, business meetings, proper introductions and 'the handshake', conversation skills/small talk, cultural differences affecting international business opportunities, dealing with interruptions, and proper business email and telephone etiquette.

Customer Service
The Customer Service workshop will look at all types of customers and how we can serve them better and improve ourselves in the process. Your participants will be provided a strong skillset including in-person and over the phone techniques, dealing with difficult customers, and generating return business.

File Organization
This course will teach you one of the most important components of the office, organization of files.

Interpersonal Skills

The Interpersonal Skills workshop will help participants work towards being that unforgettable person by providing communication skills, negotiation techniques, tips on making an impact, and advice on networking and starting conversations.

Sharing Calendars
This course will teach you the basics of sharing a calendar with other outlook users as well as other important information that an administrative assistant will need to know.
