In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded, silent-screen goddess, Norma Desmond, lives in a fantasy world. Screenwriter Joe Gillis, on the run from debt collectors, is persuaded to work on Norma’s “masterpiece.” Seduced by her and her luxurious lifestyle, Joe becomes entrapped. His love for another woman leads him to try and break free with dramatic consequences. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning masterwork of dreams and desire in the land called Hollywood includes lush, swelling standards “With One Look,” “As If We Never Said Goodbye” and “Perfect Year.”

From the writer of Checks and Balances (premiered at APT in November 2012),Things To Do In Munich is a Kafka-esque black comedy, steeped with historical references and ironic twists, that follows the journey of Sheldon Hoffman, a reclusive Jewish accountant in his 40s, as he attempts to fulfill his mother’s last wishes by transporting her ashes back to Munich to be reunited with his father where he died in the holocaust. Upon his arrival in Germany (c.1974), Sheldon is confronted by a web of German bureaucracy, confiscation, misplacement, and redirection of his mother’s ashes, a manhunt and a kidnapping. Ironically, it all leads to a final reunification with his parents ... in the spiritual sense, of course.

Jesus Christ Superstar music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice

The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 40 years. A timeless work presented again at APT with a modern, mixed media approach, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.”
Stupid Kid by Sharr White (FIRST NON-PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION BY SPECIAL ARRANGMENT WITH THE AUTHOR)

Playwright Sharr White has molded the riveting study of a family under the worst kind of stress imaginable – for this is stress which doesn’t go away with time and only gets more and more intolerable as the years roll by—with hilarious results. Stupid Kid weaves the tale of 14-year old Chick Ford, who is tried as an adult and convicted of his girlfriend’s rape and murder, a crime which he swears he didn’t commit. Fourteen years go by, and the Innocence Project becomes involved in his case – only to find that his DNA suggests that he did not kill the victim. When Chick is released from prison at 28, he returns home to poverty-ridden East Colorado to find that his family is flat broke and less than welcoming.

Joe. But as the process continues, Jake's behavior becomes erratic and perplexing, and other adults in his life start to wonder whether his fondness for dress-up might be cause for concern. The story of a husband and wife struggling to do right by their son, A Kid Like Jake is a study of intimacy and parenthood and the fantasies that accompany both.

The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including "Tomorrow." With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City.
