Corps to Release Through Conduit in Beaver Dam

The Army Corps of Engineers, Beaver Lake Project Office is releasing about 5,170 cubic feet per second of water through a Beaver Dam conduit while hydropower generators are off-line. The release will last about an hour.
The Corps has been monitoring water temperature and dissolved oxygen levels downstream and coordinating closely with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Dissolved oxygen levels are below target levels today and the conduit release should improve those readings.

The Corps and AGFC will coordinate future releases though the conduit, as needed, until one of the hydropower units is back on-line.

Currently one hydropower unit has been off-line for repairs for some time and the other unit has been be taken off-line for emergency repairs. The second unit will be brought back on-line as soon as emergency repairs have been completed.

For more information call the Beaver Lake Project Office at 479-636-1210.
