Arkansas Public Theatre to Hold Auditions for Sunset Boulevard July 31

Arkansas Public Theatre (APT) will hold auditions for SUNSET BOULEVARD, music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, based on the Billy Wilder film, on Monday, July 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the historic Victory Theater, 116 S. 2nd St., Rogers, AR 72756.

Doors for auditions will open at 6:30 p.m. Call backs, if needed, will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2018.

Auditions will be based upon readings from the script, singing and a dance combination. The entire audition packet, including the audition times, audition scenes, character descriptions, and rehearsal schedule is available for download at www.arkansaspublictheatre.org.

Performances will be September 14-16, 20-23 and 27-30, 2018 at the historic Victory Theater.

In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded, silent-screen goddess, Norma Desmond, lives in a fantasy world. Screenwriter Joe Gillis, on the run from debt collectors, is persuaded to work on Norma’s “masterpiece.” Seduced by her and her luxurious lifestyle, Joe becomes entrapped. His love for another woman leads him to try and break free with dramatic consequences. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning masterwork of dreams and desire in the land called Hollywood includes lush, swelling standards “With One Look,” “As If We Never Said Goodbye” and “Perfect Year.”

Since 1986, Arkansas Public Theatre has been producing classic, cutting-edge, fresh-from-Broadway plays, musicals, and special events in Rogers, Arkansas and at the historic Victory Theater. APT is the only all-volunteer community theatre in Northwest Arkansas and is honored to have the continued support of area businesses, organizations, donors, volunteers and audiences.
