Beaver Water District Team Places 6th Nationally in “Top Ops” Competition

Since 2016, Beaver Water District (BWD) has competed on the regional level, won the competition, and then qualified to send a team to the national “Top Ops” competition, held in conjunction with the annual American Water Works Association Convention and Expo (AWWA-ACE).

This year, the event was held in Las Vegas. The BWD team placed 6th overall on June 14. The team members are Nikki Holloway, Laboratory Analyst, of Springdale; and BWD Plant Operators Steven Caudle of Lowell and Gabe Frost of Siloam Springs.

As mentioned earlier, this was the team’s third year to compete. However, Holloway is the only team member who has been on the team and competed in nationals for the entire three years. BWD’s Laboratory Supervisor, Mindi Dearing of Farmington, is also involved in Top Ops on the regional and national levels and serves as Chair of the AWWA Top Ops Subcommittee. Top Ops is the “College Bowl” or “Jeopardy!” of the water industry. The Top Ops challenge is designed to promote excellence and professionalism and provide an opportunity for water professionals to showcase their talents in all aspects of water operations.

Beaver Water District supplies drinking water to 320,000 people/industries in NW Arkansas, in partnership with their customer cities -- Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville. Visit www.bwdh2o.org for more information.
