Caddell Construction Co. Presents Gift For Joyce Caddell Scholarship at NWACC

Representatives from Caddell Construction Co. want to help construction technology students at NorthWest Arkansas Community College and are giving a scholarship in honor of company co-founder Joyce Caddell.

Ricky Byrd, vice president of Caddell Construction, and Zach Moore, a senior project manager with Caddell, presented a $1,000 gift on Jan. 22 to the NWACC Foundation. The Joyce Caddell Scholarship honors the late co-founder of the company headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama. John and Joyce Caddell launched Caddell Construction Co. in 1983, and Joyce was instrumental in the company’s success until her death in 2017. The new scholarship will give preference to a female student studying in the college’s construction technology program.

Byrd said the construction technology program helps prepare students to play an important role in meeting the construction demands of this growing region. “This program is helping meet a critical need in our industry for qualified construction managers,” he said. “There are tremendous career opportunities in construction. What students learn in this program will equip them for success in rewarding leadership roles.”

Bob Beeler, coordinator of NWACC’s construction technology program, praised the support of partners like Caddell Construction. In addition to the generous scholarship donation, Beeler said that Byrd also has served as a guest lecturer for his construction technology students. “It’s so important for students to hear that real-life perspective,” he said. “We’re grateful for Ricky’s willingness to invest his valuable time in presenting the kind of learning that students can’t get from a textbook. It’s an important part of preparing future managers in our field, and we’re grateful to Caddell for all of its support.”

NorthWest Arkansas Community College began its construction technology program in the fall of 2016. The first group of students will graduate this spring with an Associate of Applied Science in Construction Technology.
