Gary Linker, M.D., Joins Springwoods Behavioral Health

Gary Linker, M.D., psychiatrist who is board certified in psychiatry, recently joined the medical staff of Springwoods Behavioral Health.

“We are excited to have Dr. Linker join our medical staff,” Fred Richmond, CEO of Springwoods Behavioral Health said. “He brings expertise and clinical skills that will enhance our ability to serve the increasing needs for behavioral health care in our region.”

Dr. Gary Linker is an Oklahoma native who resides Fayetteville, Arkansas with his wife and daughter. After time spent in the U.S. Army, he earned his Bachelors in Psychology at Brigham Young University. Dr. Linker received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Oklahoma, and completed his medical internship and psychiatric residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences-Little Rock. After his residency, Dr. Linker moved to Bethesda, Maryland where he completed a three-year Clinical Research Fellowship in Alzheimer's Disease at the National Institute of Health, one of the world's leading medical research centers. During that time, he also completed an Externship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and was a faculty member at George Washington Medical School. Dr. Linker is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and has received numerous honors and awards including: Finalist, Top Arkansas Physicians, Arkansas Life; Excellence in Care and Management of Patients in Clinical Research, National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, MD; Lilly Fellowship Award, Society of Biological Psychiatry; and Special Achievement as a Resident in Psychiatry, National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, MD. In 2002, Dr. Linker moved back to Arkansas, where he has served as Medical Director for geriatric and psychiatric clinics in and around Northwest Arkansas, as well as other educational, consulting, and research work in the field of psychiatry. Dr. Linker also owns and runs a psychiatric research clinic, which specializes in finding new treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease.
