Katie Hamner Joins KHBS/KHOG-TV as Assistant News Director

Katie Hamner joins KHBS/KHOG-TV, the home of 40/29 News, as Assistant News Director.

For the past 2 years, Hamner served as Senior Executive Producer at WFAA in Dallas. Hamner worked with the entire team driving news coverage and integrating social media for the evening newscasts.

“Katie has an extraordinary ability to organize, communicate, and collaborate,” said KHBS/KHOG-TV News Director, Colleen Clement. “Katie demonstrated excellent leadership skills while at WFAA where she designed and launched a training program for new producers.”

Prior to her time in Dallas, Hamner worked at KSTP in Minneapolis as the Senior Executive Producer, where among other things she was responsible for the launch of several newscasts. She’s also been a producer, a reporter and a weekend anchor.

While at KSTP, Hamner garnered a Regional Emmy® award for news excellence in the Upper Midwest Region for her contribution to morning news coverage of the 35W bridge collapse anniversary. Additionally, Hamner and the 5pm news team at WFAA received the 2015-2016 Best Newscast award from the Texas Associated Press broadcasters association.

Hamner graduated from Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Communications and earned her Master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

This is a homecoming of sorts for Hamner. She started her broadcasting career with Hearst Television, first as an intern and then as a writer at WCVB in Boston, Massachusetts.
