Event Description:
Don’t miss a special free performance at the garden by Grammy Award-winning ensemble Third Coast Percussion on May 19 at 6:00 pm. The group is returning to Northwest Arkansas to host a community performance as part of the Walton Arts Center's Artosphere: Art & Nature Festival. Third Coast, along with dozens of local musicians, will perform Inuksuit, composed by John Luther Adams, who was inspired by the large stone structures in the Arctic that the Inuit people used for navigation. Inspired by the stones, Adams composed rhythmic layers within his work to represent the structures. The New York Times calls Inuksuit “the ultimate environmental piece,” making it a fitting community performance for Artosphere. Picnics are welcome, please leave fury friends at home.
